The Senior Project Manager plays a critical role in attracting, nurturing and maintaining relationships with clients and coordinating with Studio Directors, while closely overseeing multiple projects and project teams, to meet the client’s and firm’s objectives.
Our design-visualization process allows us to test ideas and generate concepts quickly, allowing the project team to present a variety of options to the client. Once a design is formalized, we work closely with government agencies to negotiate the permitting process and make the project happen. Once ground is broken, we’re in continuous contact and collaboration with the building team. Utilizing innovative techniques and thoughtful use of materials we explore the potential of each design to translate it into practical, responsible, and buildable projects.

In 2005, what began as a conversation between two architects about making a difference in the world through architecture organically evolved into a lasting partnership. We focus on creating healthy environments that inspire, enhance, and enrich people's lives. In a time of climate change, to succeed, our designs must use energy efficiently and minimize their carbon footprint. We must source materials wisely, mindful of how they were produced and their impact on human health, while embracing new trends such as mass-timber framing and prefab construction. Because it’s inherently greener, we must encourage adaptive re-use whenever possible. We seek out, manage and combine elements of our client's program, budgets and design intentions while collaborating early and often with clients, contractors and the entire building team to maximize collaboration and innovation.
A long hallway in the main residence links both sides of the home, from remodeled kitchen and living spaces to a new voluminous master suite addition. Honey House reflects the artistic and Zen qualities of the area’s past—a place once inhabited by a collective of bohemian poets, writers, and artists—by maintaining original elements and reusing stone found onsite. The landscape, hardscape, site walls, pool and existing natural elements join together with the fully furnished home to create a comprehensive design experience. A project which respects the site to the highest level and creates a sense of place and serenity. A modern response weaved into the natural landscape of native oaks and ancient sandstone boulders.
We’re experienced with green-building rating systems like LEED and the Living Building Challenge, and as a California firm long operating under Title 24, sustainable design principles are second-nature. At AB, we’ve seen early techniques like daylighting and natural ventilation can combine with a wide array of contemporary digital 3D design tools like BIM [Building Information Modeling] to produce smart, efficient, budget-conscious and sustainable buildings. Our rigorous design process explores context-based solutions that creatively re-assess what a built environment can provide for its users and the future.
